He was frustrated- frustrated over his bosses extreme bossy nature, frustrated over the fight with his colleagues over the way he wants them to work with him, frustrated over his family always bugging him to marry when he said he doesn’t want to, frustrated over the way life had treated him, frustrated over his girlfriend who dumped him for his assistant, frustrated over the stupidity he did trusting her.

He was about to sleep, thinking about all the frustrations of life. But at these times, when you are thinking about the dilemmas of your life, you always think of god. God wanted it like that. He wanted us to remember him at-least sometimes in our life. So, he created all the valleys in life so that you can just tumble down and remember him. Otherwise in this busy world we don’t even remember our very closed ones. And thus he remembered him.

“Why?”

He had nothing else to ask. And even God was confused to give an answer. So, he just slept.

God was bemused about what to do. So, he searched in his computer for the folder about the man’s life. He didn’t remember what he planned for him. He found it, read it and just smiled. It was just too easy.!

The next day was going the same way for him. He woke up frustrated, brushed frustrated, got fresh frustrated, had breakfast frustrated. He was one frustrated fellow! His parents again bugged him about his marriage plans but stopped when they saw his frustrated face. God was looking at all of it- smiling. Just when his assistant saw him.

“Why are smiling God?”

“I found the solution to his problems”

“And what is that?”

“Just watch!”

The man drove his car to his office. He knew even today he wont be able to convince his boss that the product they are making wouldn’t fetch them any profit. He knew he wouldn’t be able to get any help from his colleagues. But he didn’t knew that God was watching him. He was prepared for the worst.

He was sitting in his cabin. Just when his phone rang.

“Sire! Miss Gitika has come to meet you. She wants to talk to you about some product fault.”

“Hmm…ohk let her in” He said as he prepared himself for something worse-a complaint!

He started acting as if he had a lot of work to do. He started looking in his files.

KNOCK KNOCK!!

“Come in.”

He still didn’t look up just to avoid the complaint. He knew there was a flaw but he was himself fighting with people in his company about it. But, then she had different plans.

“Sir?” Her voice was pleasing. He HAD to look up.

A girl in the mid 20’s, average height, clear face was standing in front of her- looking nervous.

“Yes? You came for some complaint?”

“No.”

“Then? you are Gitika right?”

“Yes. But I am not here for complaint.”

“So, why are you here?”

“For the post of your assistant…” He was baffled. But she continued. “…Actually, Mrs. Nayyar told me you had an assistant but he left and you don’t like to take anyone in now. So,….” This time she just stopped and smiled to him. It was done. Her smile was beautiful. It was magical and the magic worked.

He hadn’t even smiled for so long. But, he was smiling in return. He could do nothing but smile. God did it. His idea worked.!

PS: the post is dedicated to a very dear friend whose smile is what made me think about this story and whose ‘encouragement’ made me write this, although its all fiction.

He was standing on the ground floor of the nearest mall, alone. Was he waiting?
No.

He was enjoying. Enjoying watching the couples go by him. It was his way of enjoying the valentines day. He liked laughing on the couples as they passed by him. He always thought he knew their future:

…poor fellas! Looking very happy today as they are together just to move on to the situation of disintegration.!

He was enjoying his moment of prediction just when:

“Excuse me! Are you alone?” He was surprised to see a girl ask him this question.

“yes why?”

“Can I stand here?” She said pointing beside him.

“Yeah.  I don’t own this place.” Obviously, he didn’t.

“Thanks”

He was a little surprised and thought of asking the reason for this behaviour, but  the joy of watching the couples and smiling, no, laughing at them overcame the urge of questioning.

As another couple passed by, he giggled.

“What?” The girl asked.

“What what?”

“What are you giggling at?”

“You ask too many questions.”

“Yeah. But thats not my answer.” She said with complete disregard to his feelings. She certainly knew nothing about them.

“You wont understand.”

“Try it.”

“I laugh at the couples.”

“What?”

“Yeah. See I told you, you wont understand.”

“Elaborate.” She demanded.

“Well, I know their future.”

“And what is it?”

“They are too happy for living together today. They are enjoying walking hand in hand, feeding on a single icecream, watching movies together, giving gifts and making others jealous and making love in some cases, which they will regret in there near future as they will disintegrate. Especially the boy. He wont have a penny left with him at the end of the day, but still will feel like the richest man on earth, just to regret.”

She watched him for a while and analysed what he said and responded, “How lowly?”

” I told you, you wont understand.”

“Naa. Not everyone is like that. Atleast, I’m not like that.”

“Hmm..I barely know you.”

“Well. Anyways, nice to meet you. I need to go now.”

“But what were you here for?”

“My ex-boyfriend.”

“But he didn’t come. Did he?”

“Well. I told him to move on as I’m with someone else now. So, he wanted to see me with someone”

“So?” He still didn’t understand.

” He is there…” She showed him a boy going back, looking sad. “…and he saw us together.”

Saying this she started moving towards the parking.

“hey!” He shouted. She turned back.

“Bye” He said with a smile as he thought,

USED, ONCE AGAIN..!

PS: Someone asked me, “why do you keep hurting yourself when you are in love.?”And I said, ” Because YOu are in love.”

It was exam time and exam time meant studies. It also meant that a much needed break from studies was just around the corner. It is for this break that every student studies.

“…just a few days more and then I’ll go back home and enjoy.!” thought Prateek while studying for the last examination.

But as every student does, he felt asleep, just to wake up after 3 hrs to know that he was suffering from fever.

“Bhai, lets go see a doc.!” Rahul, his roommate observed.

They went to a doctor. There they diagnosed the illness as tonsils and some infection. The medicines were issued and were taken as per the recommendation. But, then, he felt nothing more than some temporary relief.

So, he went again and this time the doctor diagnosed Steven Johnson Syndrome.

It meant he was allergic to certain drugs. He suddenly remembered his mother, who was also suffering from the same illness.

And he smiled, dialed his mother’s number and when he heard..

“Hello Beta!”

He said,” Mother, I’m like you.”

” Are you right when EVERYONE is wrong?”

This is what I thought when I realized that everyone else drinks.

They say some drink to remember, some drink to forget. But what about the person who doesn’t drink?

Isn’t there any other way to remember or forget without spoiling your body.? Yeah,  I agree that ’some’ drinking won’t spoil anything.

But when someone drinks to forget, they don’t drink ’some’. They drink until they forget how to drink..!

Even when someone drinks to remember, they just don’t remember what they did when they were drunk..!

People drink even on the dry day.! They act as if they can’t survive without alcohol..! Whisky is the favourite, Vodka comes second coz of its smell and is costlier. Beer is for the starters.
The snacks can’t be forgotten. You would at least need about 5-6 big potato chips packets. Enjoyment is a feature of these alcoholic gettos and thus its not necessary to drink it neat since there are cold drinks and soda to accompany.

These were just the props. The aftereffects??

People drink to the out-of-their-control state. And the worst part? They vomit everything out.! and its not very delightful to even watch.

What happens actually is that the alcohol when consumed burns or com-busts inside the body and when the energy produced becomes too much it comes out with everything..!

The whole getto costs about 1000-1500 INR at minimum depending upon which brand and what type of alcohol you consume. The aftereffects are mostly observable. And when you are into yourself you forget everything you did, although they are not worth remembering. They are too eeeewww… to be seen.!

But then, everyone around is ‘trying’ it out, although this is nowhere near trying out. Its gone far beyond..!

People who don’t drink are becoming less. I thought I was right, not drinking it. But then are you right, when  EVERYONE is wrong?

Its like you are surrounded by drunken people and you began to think :

ARE YOU DRUNK??

“Dhoni ke teen bandar” That was the title line for the story which was flashing on a national news channel after the first match of the Australia-India ongoing series.

What they showed under it was funny.! No..! It was hilarious.!
What a way of criticism.?! For people who worship cricket, it was very entertaining. But on the flipside-What the beep was that?!

What Dhoni did was that he still praised Praveen Kumar after the loss. But he was worth it.! He and Harbhajan played and made it look like India was winning. If it was not them India would have lost by miles.!

Another thing what Dhoni said was that he was satisfied with the fielding of the Indian team so far. Now, what exactly was said by him was that he was happy with the improvement in Indian team’s fielding so far. But yes, he should be criticized.

Indian team’s fielding was not satisfying in this match and he should have not been satisfied.

But the way they showed the clip again and again was torturous.! You can tell a person that he is wrong but it does not give anyone a right to make a mockery. And not surprisingly, earn money through it. Isn’t this the HARAM KA PAISA?

They should be criticized, but not like dogs.! Give them some space..! Criticize them but atleast let them feel guilty about it.

But the way they have done it always end up in making one feel that it was overdone.!

When now India has won the second match by a very big margin of 99 runs, our very own cricketers are considered the Gods.!

Why this double standard policy? May be just to earn money.! That’s what they are getting. Morality is not the feature, but money is, spice is. I think if this could change now, but its a pity that the common Indian man is helping them by watching them, with there eyes glued to the television screen and laughing on others mockery without thinking about morals.

Its sad.

I have been using it,  for so many days, so many times. I have got used to it and also got used to the abuse, the hatred. I traveled in the local bus, daily. The reason for this abuse and hatred was my beard. It told everyone that I was a Muslim guy. Just because of my beard, they forgot the I was also a human.! They even forgot that I traveled with them everyday.!

Not everyone though. There was Suhani, my colleague. She never said anything, which hurt me. She was very sweet. But then, she was sweet with everyone. I wasn’t special. But at least I was equal.

Then there was Rahim Chacha. He was another person whom I talked with. He told his daily experiences to me. What all they told him to the very first day they realized he was Muslim was very painful and in fact to be correct, disgusting.!

I had studied in great places, very reputed colleges and was now working at a very good company. But this daily abuse was pathetic. They never missed a chance. They just said,

“Kaum hi kharab hai sali”

They might be just a few words to blabber, but they rang everytime in my head.!!

Today was the perfect day for them. Neither Suhani nor Rahim Chacha were present today.

“HEY! Mr. Terrorist! Come here.” One of them hauled. I went towards him.

“Hmmm…Can you prove you are a Muslim?” What kind of question was that?

I didn’t answer. HOW CAN I???

“Answer motherfucker..!..Alright. I’ll check it for myself.”

I was not sure what he was upto. But what he did was shameful, disgraceful..! It was a perfect day. And he did his best to embarrass me to the edge.

He suddenly pulled my pants off.!

Everybody started laughing.

I would have cried, but I didn’t. It was the perfect day. The Bus stopped and I got down from it. It wasn’t the destined stoppage, but after going through what happened, I just wanted to run away as quickly as I could.

The bus started to move and suddenly it was blown to pieces..! Booooom….and what was left was only the non-living parts of the bus.

It was a perfect day and I did it.!

No Regret.!

“Hey! How are you?”

“Hi Rahul. I’m good. I was about to wake up. Anyways thanks for waking me up. How are you?”

If it was you and you call a girl early morning at about 5, you wont see her happy. No ways, it can’t happen..!
But it was Rahul and the girl was Ria. Ria was totaly interested in Rahul and it showed. They talked for a little bit more.

” Hey! I wanted to tell you something.” Rahul said, a little hesitatingly.

“What ? Tell me.”

“Not now. Lets meet today at 7 in the evening at the central mall.?”

“Alright. I’ll be there.”

“OK. Bubye !!!” And he hung up.

He was happy. No! In fact he was on cloud 9. He went up to his best friend’s house to tell him this. Rohit was in his room, still sleeping offcourse.

“Wake up buddy!” Rahul shouted.

“What the fuck are you doing at this time?” :O

” Don’t worry its just 7 a.m. I gotto tell you something.”

“What? Can’t you wait and tell me some other time..?”

“No! Just can’t”

“Alright. Just tell me what it is.”

“I’m in love and I’ve called her today at 7 in the central mall to propose.”

“Woohoo!! Who’s the gal?”

“Ria”

It came as a shock to Rohit. He always liked Ria. He just couldn’t say. But he was suddenly angry.

“What the fuck?” He shouted.

“What happened?” Rahul asked suprised.

“You cheater! You knew I liked her.”

“No. I didn’t.”

“you knew it!”

“What? I didn’t knew anything about you and her. You liked her, you should have told her. Now when I know I love her, why the hell you creating trouble?” Rahul just said this and left.

The day passed waiting for 7 p.m. He was almost ready to go, when the phone rang.

“Halo”

“Halo Dog.!! You know what, I’m going to end this today only. I’m going to kill the bitch who created this new divide between us.”

“What? Rohit calm down.!” The phone was dead till now.

Rahul was confused. He didn’t knew what to do He called up Ria, but she didn’t pick it up. May be she left for the mall.
Everything seemed to fall apart. He didn’t have a choice but to go to the mall.

He went to the mall and found Ria on the spot he mentioned. Rohit was still nowhere to be seen. But Rahul knew he would be there any moment.

“Ria. Lets go away from here.”

“But Rahul you were about to tell me something. What is it ?”

And Rohit came. He fired one shot towards Ria, but Rahul came between the bullet and Ria and the bullet hit him straight into the heart.

“Rahul!!” Ria screamed.

“Rahul?” Rohit was surprised that his shot didnt hit the ‘desired’ target. He had killed his best friend. It was not in his plan. There was fury at the place. Everyone was running. Even Rohit could have escaped, but he didn’t. He was too shocked to be running away.! Instead, he went to Rahul.

“I was about…to ..tell you something.” Rahul said, gasping for every bit of air, to Ria.

“yeah..”

“It… was…that..”And he died.

But he left a note in Ria’s hand. She read it with a shock and handed it to Rohit. Rohit, confused, read it.
